Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior!

It was a good day of rest yesterday. Starting with church we heard a message from chapter two in Habakkuk about how we have too much noise in our lives to be able to hear God clearly; “But the Lord is in his holy temple, let all the earth be silent before him” (vs. 20). We shared communion with one another at the Cordillera Alliance Church in Las Condes which is located in an upper class neighborhood in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Afterward (more…)

Thurs. morning- Another wonderful breakfast! The permanent cooks for team two are: Garnet Francis (head cook), Dotti Fennick (asst.), Ethel Fennick, and Lisa Hilyard. Various volunteers assist them with cooking and clean up at just about every meal.

Scott Trickett (guitar) led worship and Haleigh Trickett (drum) assisted. We are learning new songs in Spanish. (more…)

Power Failure, Rain, Mud — Joy!

It’s Tuesday morning and we just finished our breakfast and devotions. We had some rain yesterday, literally showers on and off. We stopped work several times. We still got much done in spite of it all. Now we’re left with a lot of slushy mud making it awkward to get around. I think the sun will be out soon to dry everything out.

Another hindrance that happened yesterday was a power failure in the area. It changed the way we operate like having to use hand saws instead of power saws, etc. It lasted about 3 hours. There was a big cheer when it finally came back on.

The “new” team has arrived safe and sound!

At some point in the middle of the night two jet airliners crossed paths somewhere over the continents of North and South America. One was returning “team one” safely home as the other was bringing “team two” to the worksite, which is at a girls’ orphanage in a small town called La Pintana just outside of Santiago, Chile.

My name is Larry Hillhouse and I’ve taken over the job of sending you these emails keeping you abreast of what is currently going on here at the hogar. I want to thank Jennifer Imes for doing such a great job of keeping us informed of team one’s progress. (more…)
